3 WEEK CLASS -
Does your dog think dinner guests came for a personal greeting? Does “wait your turn” sound reasonable until another dog gets the cookie? Maybe you’d love a dog who can relax beside you at a café, wait while you train their housemate, or watch the action at a sport event without losing their mind—or their enthusiasm.
Let’s give your dog a place with a purpose.
In this class, we’ll use mats, beds, platforms, perches, paw targets, and even the occasional camp chair to answer three questions:
- Where should I be?
- What should I do here?
- When is it my turn to go?
We’ll begin by making stations places your dog wants to choose. Then, through games and shaping, we’ll build confident returns, useful positions, patient waiting, and clear releases. Your dog will learn that a station can be a comfortable place to hang out, a starting point for action, or their way of asking, “Can we play again?”
These skills have jobs well beyond the training room. Use them at home while you eat, work, or welcome visitors. Bring a familiar resting place on outings. Use targets to sharpen sport positions and stations to organize start lines and the time between repetitions. If you train two dogs, we’ll explore how one can wait while the other enjoys a turn.
Think of a station as your dog’s home base: somewhere to return, take a breath, and find out what happens next.
Yes, your dog can learn to switch off and still light up when you say, “Your turn!”
