Why Fenzi Dog Sports Academy?

B3004: Sharing is Caring: Voluntary Sharing

Course Details

3 WEEK CLASS - Join Certified Control Unleashed Instructor Kim Palermo in teaching your dog the versatile Control Unleashed protocol, Voluntary Sharing. Originally created for dogs who resource guard, it turns out that this game can actually help with so much more, such as:

  • Introducing your dog to the concept of a Start Button
  • Waiting turns for training
  • Arousal management around people, dogs, or other animals
  • Sharing attention and affection
  • Cooperative care and husbandry
  • And so much more!

This class will first go over the different types of Start Buttons—One and Done, Duration, and Dog’s Choice—and how to teach them. Next, you will learn how to build the picture of Voluntary Sharing for your dog, introduce a neutral helper (such as a stuffed animal), and finally incorporate another person or animal into the picture. From there, it’s pick-your-path based on your needs for the game! This class will be fun, creative, and you’ll build a wonderful way for your dog to communicate their needs to you!

Teaching Approach:

Kim releases lectures every few days based on the classroom progress. Skill-based lectures will include written text, a tutorial video, step-by-step instructions, and occasionally additional demonstration videos. Many supplemental lectures will support the skills lectures. Lectures are broken down into short, easy to follow content.

Demonstration videos will include additional species including cats, horses, and a turkey!

Feedback is unique to each individual student and their needs. The feedback is written or occasionally a voiceover, and may include timestamps or screenshots to point out specific points in the video. Recommended next steps are often included.

There will also be at least one zoom call open to all students (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) to attend.

This class will have a Teaching Assistant, Austin Tucker, for the bronze and silver levels.
