Course Details
3 WEEK CLASS - Are you great at following instructions, but struggle to make your own training plans? This class is for you!
You'll learn how to write training plans for the dog in front of you:
- What to consider as you come up with your first draft
- How to split big skills into small steps
Then you'll start implementing your plan and develop an eye for what's already going well and details you can improve on in the second iteration of your training plan!
You'll pick a behavior that fits into 3 weeks and is interesting to you. By the end of week 3, you'll not only be well on the way with your particular skill, but also have the confidence and concept skills of doing it all over again with the next thing you want to teach—even when I'm not holding your hand!
Teaching Approach:
My goal in this class is to make myself superfluous! You'll learn how to confidently plan and review your own sessions, adapt your training plan and experiment without fear.
Gold students will pick a project behavior (whether that's a life skill, a competition behavior or anything else) that fits into three weeks. You'll go through several rounds of planning, implementing and analysing your own session videos. I'll be there to hold your hand, reflect and ask you questions that help you figure out how to proceed. Rather than telling you what to do, I'll help you discover the answer to your own questions, and help you discover how skilled a dog trainer you already are!
Of course, this wouldn't be a class taught by me if along the way, we didn't have lots of fun and plenty of on- and off-topic detours. I haven't been as excited about a new class as I am about this one in a long time! Let's dive in!
