Course Details
Not all dogs are high drive. In fact, most dogs fall into the average- to lower-drive range, and it can be more challenging to motivate them. Handlers often assume they can’t increase a dog’s arousal—that the dog is simply “that way.” But that’s not necessarily true. In many cases, we can increase arousal; we just need to be creative.
In this workshop, I’ll show you how to be thoughtful about both reinforcers and how we use them. We’ll discuss how to plan and structure training sessions to optimize arousal. We’ll also explore games that effectively increase arousal and how to strategically incorporate them into training so that the arousal carries over into the work.
This workshop will benefit dogs in all sports. Whether you’re just beginning your training journey or your dog is actively competing, the techniques in this workshop can help raise your dog’s arousal and increase their motivation.
