Course Details
Teaching your dog to change positions while in motion—sit, down, and stand—is a valuable skill set for both the competition ring and real life. In this workshop, we’ll break down how to train moving positions step by step so your dog learns with clarity and confidence. For sport handlers, we’ll focus on exercises like the Drop on Recall, moving stands, and Go-Outs, along with strategies to prevent forward creep, maintain straightness, and add distance and speed without losing precision. For pet owners, we’ll highlight practical uses such as an emergency down out of motion for safety, having your dog stand calmly during walks for easy leash management or handling, and a sit on the go for better control in busy environments. Through the use of props, thoughtful reinforcement placement, and systematic progressions, you’ll learn how to build reliable moving positions that combine accuracy, responsiveness, and enthusiasm. Whether your goal is success in the obedience or rally ring—or simply a well-trained dog for everyday life—you’ll leave with the tools to make moving positions clear, fun, and effective.
