Course Details
Does your dog struggle with position changes? You're not alone! Position changes can be challenging, especially since dogs must respond promptly to cues without moving toward the handler. When silent hand signals are added, the difficulty increases even more.
In this workshop, you’ll learn step-by-step methods to train precise position changes at a distance. We’ll start with close work to ensure success and quickly progress to adding distance. Props will be introduced to help maintain position, and we’ll cover how to gradually fade their use. Additionally, we’ll address the unique challenges of signal exercises in obedience and rally, teaching you how to build confident and reliable position changes using signals.
What you’ll learn:
- -Foundations for teaching position changes
- -Building distance while maintaining precision
- -Using and fading props like platforms, PVC boxes, gates, and barriers
- -Overcoming challenges with silent signal exercises
- -Tips for command discrimination and advanced exercises
This workshop is suitable for all levels. Beginners will learn how to introduce positions, while advanced teams will gain strategies to improve distance, accuracy, and reliability.
Working students will have the opportunity to train throughout the week and submit a 90-second video for personalized feedback. By the end of this workshop, your dog will be better equipped to tackle position changes in obedience, rally, and TEAM competitions.
