3 WEEK CLASS - Freeze Frame! Emergency stop and more! Turn a fun game into a life-saving skill. Whether you're navigating a busy park or competing in sports, a dependable "stop" is one of the most important tools in your toolbox.
We’ll build the game step‑by‑step, creating a stop that’s quick, and dependable at speed and distance. Your dog will learn how to put on the brakes out of a run and freeze on cue.
By practicing this game, your dog will become more attentive and responsive, staying alert and ready to execute the perfect freeze frame.
This skill is valuable in a variety of situations, including:
- Safety First: Master the "Emergency Stop" to keep your dog safe in any environment.
- Competition Ready: Perfect the "Stop out of Motion" for a flawless drop on recall, moving stand or moving down.
- Sport Specific: Gain the control needed for Treibball, Herding, Rally, and Freestyle.
- Showstopper: Add dramatic flair and precision to your trick or freestyle routines.
Teaching Approach:
Weekly Lectures
Lectures are released at the beginning of each week and include both written and video descriptions of each exercise. Skills are taught in a clear, step‑by‑step format, often with several options so teams can choose what works best. Supplemental lectures may be added if additional support is helpful.
Homework
Homework for each week is listed at the end of the lectures for easy reference.
Video Demonstrations
Demonstration videos feature the instructor working with her own dogs as well as examples from other dog‑and‑handler teams. Most videos run 1–2 minutes, and some may include captions within the video.
Feedback & Support
Instruction is designed to support students of all levels. You’ll receive both general and personalized written feedback, often with timestamps to make guidance easy to apply. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and may submit work from previous weeks or the current week to receive continued, meaningful feedback.
There will be a TA in this course for support in the bronze forums
