Course Details
We invest countless hours teaching behaviors and building chains that look beautiful in training—only to step into the ring and watch everything fall apart. What happened? Why does the dog suddenly struggle?
Dogs work off context and cues, and the picture we present is one of their primary sources of information. When that picture changes in the ring dogs become confused. That confusion often shows up as stress, hesitation, displacement or loss of engagement.
You don’t need to wait until your dog is fully trained. You can prepare for the ring in your every day training. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to intentionally introduce and train “ring picture” while keeping sessions fun, clear, and motivating. You’ll learn how to help your dog work confidently and happily in ring context. We’ll talk about how to utilize run throughs to create a positive association with ring picture. We’ll discuss the use of variable reinforcement and working with reinforcers off your body.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a clear framework for setting up training sessions that prepare your dog for ring picture. This workshop is applicable for ALL levels of training!! Ring preparation can start in the early days of training. You don’t need to wait until you are planning to enter the ring.
