Course Details
Handling has always been a bit complicated. It’s not easy to coordinate our upper & lower body, cue ahead of time and pay attention to what our dog is doing. I’ve recently simplified handling cues for turns that makes it easier for the handler to execute and for the dog to understand. This frees you up to focus on your dog. Dogs learn the cues easily and quickly because moving with our legs is intuitive. In this workshop we will focus on clean and consistent handling in the turns and Figure 8. I will show you how to teach your dog to respond quickly and confidently to your cues. I will also show you how to ensure your dog is staying focused and in position throughout the turn. All without losing attitude or animation. This workshop will benefit teams that are teaching heeling, as well as experienced teams looking to improve their turns and Figure 8.

I have been training and competing for several decades in a variety of sports including Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Nosework, Agility and Rally. My first love has always been competition obedience. I have been fortunate to win the AKC National Obedience Championship four times with three different dogs. (Click here for full bio and to view Petra's upcoming courses)
