Course Details
Figuring out the best acclimation and warmup routine for your dog can be challenging. It’s hard to know exactly what to do and for how long. Warming up at a trial can be even more challenging. We often don’t have as much room and the environment is incredibly chaotic. Our dogs struggle, we get nervous and don’t know what to do. Sometimes we end up doing to much, other times not enough. In this workshop you will learn how to develop a personalized warmup routine that you will use consistently in training. You will learn how to adapt that warmup to the trial environment. This workshop will teach you how to read your dog and recognize when they are focused and ready to go. It will also provide you with strategies for when your dog is struggling during the warmup. A good warmup gets your dog’s body and mind engaged and ready to work. This sets the tone for your training session and trials. This workshop will benefit dogs at all levels of training.

I have been training and competing for several decades in a variety of sports including Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Nosework, Agility and Rally. My first love has always been competition obedience. I have been fortunate to win the AKC National Obedience Championship four times with three different dogs. (Click here for full bio and to view Petra's upcoming courses)
