Struggling to maintain behaviors? Not getting good carryover in the ring? Science shows that a variable reinforcement schedule is most effective for maintaining behaviors. Think of gambling, checking social media, and fishing. You never know when you will get the reward. And it varies all the time. THAT’S what keeps you engaged. Varying your reinforcement results in better engagement, more effort and attitude. Let’s face it. We are predictable. Don’t think you are? Watch your dog. I’ll bet they will tell you otherwise. Mindfully incorporating variable reinforcement into your training strengthens and maintains behaviors. And it produces great carryover in the ring. In this workshop we will look at how to develop a variable reinforcement schedule that is well thought out and that you can sustain over time. Mindfully incorporating this into my training has been a game changer for Zayna. She no longer stresses in the ring! She’s happy, motivated, and having fun. Your dog can too!

I have been training and competing for several decades in a variety of sports including Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Nosework, Agility and Rally. My first love has always been competition obedience. I have been fortunate to win the AKC National Obedience Championship four times with three different dogs. (Click here for full bio and to view Petra's upcoming courses)
