Touch can be more than just a physical act; it is a also a language of communication. Join Aleks as she explores how integrating intentional touch into your daily routine can deepen the bond with your dog in unexpected ways.
Whether you are grounding a high-arousal dog, building a baseline of trust for a fearful pup, or reconnecting with a senior dog who needs a little extra focus, touch can be the bridge. Not all dogs come with an instant connection with us, this presentation will look at how touch can change that relationship and create a new way to connect with our amazing dogs.
We will go over different types of touch (massage), how you can fit it into your life, and how to apply it for a dog that might be a little “too much”. You can look forward to learning how adding small moments of massage into busy schedule can create a subtle new way to communicate with your pup.
About the Instructor:
Aleks Woodroffe (she/her) is a Professional Canine Massage Practitioner and Certified Canine Fitness Trainer located in Phoenix, Arizona. She is also a full-time scent work trainer, judge, and certifying official. Understanding subtle dog language is a big part of her job!
Becoming a Canine Massage Practitioner in 2017, Aleks wanted to help both her own dog recover from a psoas injury, but also to help other sport dogs in her area. It was through massage that she realized the power of touch and added canine fitness certification to her repertoire. These two skills not only help her clients in a wide range of sports (everything from dock diving to agility to bite sports) but also help her provide a whole-body approach to support her scent work students.
