Course Details
Engagement is the most challenging piece of obedience and rally. The dog knows the exercises. But there are so many distractions at a trial! We often find ourselves nagging the dog. Reminding them to watch us over and over. Ideally engagement is the dog’s choice. They actively choose us over the environment. In this workshop you will learn how to develop cues for engagement. When teaching these cues, we let the dog take the lead in offering engagement. Offering is empowering! And it gets rid of nagging and conflict. Once the cues are fluent, you can implement them in every aspect of your training. Dog not engaged? Present the cue, dog offers engagement, problem solved! This workshop will benefit teams of all levels, beginner through advanced.

I have been training and competing for several decades in a variety of sports including Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Nosework, Agility and Rally. My first love has always been competition obedience. I have been fortunate to win the AKC National Obedience Championship four times with three different dogs. (Click here for full bio and to view Petra's upcoming courses)
