Growing Up FDSA - Free Ebook

Course Details

3 WEEK CLASS - Does your dog have big feelings around agility or a certain aspect of it? Do they get amped up, over-aroused, or too high in the face of obstacles, midst of sequencing, or even the environment itself? You’re in the right place!

Throughout this class, we will be working through all sorts of arousal layering games to help our dogs learn to regulate themselves more easily in the context of agility. These games will work through all different aspects that tend to raise arousal levels such as frustration, repetition, lack of clarity/confusion, motion, etc. All the while, we will be building a clear structure for how our dogs can learn to think through these aspects while keeping a calmer head and teach what to do if they are moving in the direction of getting too amped up.

The games can also eventually act as good warm ups to help get your dog into the optimal agility thinking brain before training or trailing or exercises to revisit throughout your dog’s career as little reminders.

Teaching Approach:

Lectures will be released at the top of each week. They will be a combination of written instruction and video demos.

Feedback will consist of written feedback and screenshots with specific timestamps as applicable. Check ins to forums will occur twice a day to keep the flow going and to make sure we can get the most out of our three weeks for those enrolled at gold and silver.

For the first week, we will be just using reinforcers, exercise dots, or a station/mat. Any station or mat will do! My preferred exercise dots are these: https://shorturl.at/PLRjD

For the second week, we will be starting to include equipment. We will be mainly using jumps, tunnels, and standalone wings. For this week, you can definitely work in a smaller space with just the one piece of equipment.

For the third week, we will be utilizing full agility training spaces when possible as well as multiple pieces of equipment. So this week is the only week that will require a larger amount of space
