Canine fitness foundations are essential for any active dog, supporting strength, balance, and long-term joint health. Establishing proper canine fitness foundations is essential for any active dog to perform safely and confidently. Many owners and trainers unintentionally skip or misunderstand proper canine fitness foundations, increasing the risk of injury.
This presentation will focus on the foundations of canine strength and fitness and they relate to biomechanics, and demonstrate and describe appropriate advancements in canine fitness for specific goals, sports and activities. who wants to develop that bond in a way that helps their dog grow into a confident, resilient, and optimistic competitor and companion.
About the Instructor:
Deb M. Torraca, DPT, CCAT, CCRP, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Emeritus, Fellow International Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy
Dr. Torraca lives in Connecticut with her family. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Boston University, Master’s degree from Quinnipiac College, and her Doctorate from the University of Tennessee.
She is certified in rehabilitation, and manual therapy. Dr. Torraca is one of the founding faculty members for the CCAT (Certified Canine Animal Therapy) program through NC State and Northeast Seminars, and the director and founder of the CCMT (Certified Canine Manual Therapy) program. She is the Director of Animal Health Programs for Multi Radiance Medical Lasers. She also sits on various board of directors assisting with the quality of life if animals.
She has owned Wizard of Paws Physical Rehabilitation for Animals for over twenty-five years. Her clinic sees a variety of small animals from all walks in life.
In addition to the clinic, she is the Director of Animal Health Programs and Research for Multi Radiance Veterinary Group.
Dr. Torraca has lectured all over the world on topics of small animal rehabilitation and enjoys working with all types of small animals. She has been very involved with professional research in canine performance and treatment of canine performance issues and the use of photobiomodulation in the treatment of canine sports performance and degenerative myelopathy. Her love of animals and rehabilitation is demonstrated through her practice and her teaching – she loves what she does, and it is obvious. She is often sought out for her advice throughout the world and is thrilled to be able to offer her advice to others to help animals. But her true love is treating the beloved clients in her clinic, especially the current and retired canine and military teams. Her clinic recently cheered on many of their clients involved in the Westminster Kennel Club show, including Best in Show!
