    C3005: Strength Through Motion

    Course Details

3 WEEK CLASS - Strength Through Motion ...

Strength Through Motion is a three-week conditioning class designed to develop your dog's strength, coordination, balance, and body awareness through purposeful, functional movement.

Each lesson focuses on exercises that improve core stability, rear-end strength, power generation, mobility, and controlled athleticism. You'll learn how to use thoughtful movement patterns to build muscle, enhance movement efficiency, and improve overall physical performance while keeping your dog engaged and working with confidence.

Throughout the course, you'll discover how functional conditioning supports canine sports, active lifestyles, injury prevention, and long-term physical health. Whether your goal is to improve your dog's athletic ability or simply help them move better in everyday life, this class provides practical exercises that create a stronger, more resilient canine partner.

Week 1: Motion Awareness & Engagement Control

    Week 2: Directional Strength Development

Week 3: Integrated Power & Control

    Teaching Approach:

    • Written & video lessons that explain the science behind each exercise, proper technique, safety considerations, and training tips.
    • Instructional lecture videos where concepts are discussed in depth, including common mistakes, exercise progressions, and how to adapt activities for different dogs.
    • Demonstration videos that show each exercise so you can see exactly how to perform the movements with your dog.

My goal is to help you understand not just how to perform each conditioning exercise, but why it matters. By combining education with hands-on practice, you'll develop the knowledge and confidence to safely improve your dog's strength, balance, coordination, mobility, and overall fitness long after the course is complete.

Week 1: Motion Awareness & Engagement Control

    Focus: Building the Foundation

The first week establishes the foundation for safe and effective movement by improving body awareness, balance, and engagement. Dogs learn to move with intention, developing core stability, postural control, and confidence through purposeful movement before adding speed or intensity.

    Learning Objectives

    • Develop body awareness and proprioception
    • Improve balance and postural stability
    • Increase core engagement
    • Build handler focus during movement
    • Introduce movement patterns that prepare the body for strength development

    Week 2: Directional Strength Development

    Focus: Strength Through Movement

Strength is created through controlled changes in direction, speed, and body position. This week focuses on developing muscular engagement through movement rather than resistance equipment. Dogs will learn to generate power while maintaining balance, coordination, and efficient movement mechanics.

    Learning Objectives

    • Build functional strength through directional movement
    • Improve coordination during turns and transitions
    • Develop rear-end engagement and overall body control
    • Enhance movement efficiency and balance
    • Introduce controlled acceleration and deceleration

Week 3: Integrated Power & Control

    Focus: Athletic Movement in Action

The final week combines the skills learned throughout the course into fluid, high-energy conditioning sequences. Dogs will learn to balance excitement with control while integrating strength, coordination, speed, and responsiveness into purposeful movement.

    Learning Objectives

    • Combine strength, balance, and coordination into athletic movement
    • Improve responsiveness during higher-energy activities
    • Develop controlled power and movement efficiency
    • Strengthen the connection between handler and dog through structured play
    • Learn how to safely continue conditioning through play at home

    Who Should Enroll?

    This class is appropriate for:

    • Active companion dogs
    • Dogs participating in canine sports
    • Dogs beginning a conditioning program
    • Owners looking for engaging alternatives to traditional fitness exercises
    • Teams wanting to improve athletic performance through functional movement

Exercises and movement patterns can be modified to accommodate a variety of breeds, sizes, and fitness levels. Dogs should be physically sound for moderate activity or have veterinary approval before participating.

    Prerequisites and Equipment

No previous fitness or conditioning experience is necessary. Exercises include progressions and modifications so teams can safely work at their own level.

I can likely make use of what you have already! the basics needed will be: foot targets (2 roughly the same height carpal height) foam pads, a cato plank or board or some type of a fully body platform your dog can stand on comfortably, 4 cavalietti poles, 2 cones, a mat (yoga mat bath mat etc)...
