Course Details
It takes some time to develop your eye, and hands to get an idea of how your performance dog's body is feeling.
This workshop is designed to help performance teams get better at assessing their dogs body, and then give some specific strategies, based on these assessments.
We will look at:
- - Visual indicators of body dysfunction, tension, and pain
- - Behavioural indicators
- - Hands on methods to assess the function of different parts of your dogs body. This will include getting familiar with the joints, muscle, and fascia.
We will then consider the most appropriate pathway to help an areas that you have identified.
This could include:
- - Specific warm up's before training and/or competing
- - Fitness exercises to target areas with less muscle
- - Mobility exercises to address active range of motion
- - Bodywork to target areas of muscle of fascia tension
- - Other modalities like heat
We will also briefly discuss what, and when you would consider using a veterinary professional if there are orthopaedic concerns.
This workshop is designed for handlers that would like to develop their hands, and eyes to their dogs bodies. It is appropriate for any team willing to learn, however please contact Kelly if your dog has a known orthopaedic or medical condition to discuss suitability for this workshop.
