What do you do next when you suspect a performance-related issue is due to an underlying injury? Is surgery always required, or can these “soft-tissue injuries” be successfully treated with rehabilitation? What role does regenerative medicine play in helping the body heal itself—and if surgery is necessary, can it be performed minimally invasively to return the canine athlete to high-level performance and competition?
In this webinar, Dr. Sherman Canapp takes a deep dive into the most common sports-related, repetitive-use soft-tissue injuries that lead to performance issues, with particular emphasis on forelimb shoulder injuries and hindlimb iliopsoas strains. From initial identification through return to sport, Dr. Canapp will outline a practical, step-by-step approach to early and accurate diagnosis using objective gait analysis, orthopedic and sports-medicine palpation, and advanced diagnostics including radiographs, ultrasound, and needle-scope procedures. Treatment options—from targeted rehabilitation and regenerative medicine (PRP and stem cell therapy) to minimally invasive surgery—will be discussed, along with post-treatment recovery, rehabilitation progression, and safe return-to-sport strategies.
