Sarah Rida with German Shepard

Sarah is a professional dog trainer based in New Zealand, known for her thoughtful, evidence-based approach to training dogs and their handlers. Her work focuses on clarity, emotional regulation, and building skills that hold up in real-world and sport environments.

Sarah blends learning theory, reinforcement strategies, and canine biomechanics to help teams develop reliable, sustainable performance without sacrificing the dog’s emotional wellbeing. She is particularly interested in how arousal, reinforcement, and handler mechanics influence both behavior and long-term soundness.

She holds certifications from Karen Pryor Academy (KPA-CPT), the New Zealand Certificate in Animal Management – Canine Behaviour and Training (NZCAM-CBT), the Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach program (CSCC), and the CARE Trainer Certificate (CARE-TC) with Dr. Deb Jones.

Sarah trains and competes with her German Shepherds in Mondioring obedience and nosework, and brings that real-world experience into her teaching. Students value her individualized feedback and her ability to meet teams where they are while helping them build skills that transfer beyond class.
